At Daleville, Timmy Meador smashed two home runs, including a two-run shot in a three-run fifth inning and solo homer in a three-run second, as Lord Botetourt (3-2) beat visiting Radford 6-3 in a non-district game. Radford (4-2-1) got a two-run homer from Chad Phillips in the fourth inning and a solo homer from Brody Smith in the sixth.
Down by three runs, host Jefferson Forest scored six runs in the third and fourth innings, then went on to an 18-3 Seminole District victory over Nelson County (3-6) at Forest. Charles Taylor was 3-for-3 with four RBI for the Cavaliers (5-5), and J.R. Burks had two hits and four RBI.
\ SOFTBALL: At South Boston, Franklin County committed four of its five errors in the sixth inning as Halifax County rallied to an 8-7 victory.
Leading 7-4 at 5 1/2 innings, the Eagles (5-4) became error-prone as the Comets (5-0) took the lead for good. Franklin County also blew a 5-0 lead.
Shelley Bowles hit her third home run and drove in three runs for the Eagles.
\ BOYS' TRACK: At Cave Spring, Tikki Barber won the triple jump and was on the winning 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams as Cave Spring took an 87-44 Roanoke Valley District victory over Franklin County.
Other multiple winners for Cave Spring were Tyler Shelton, who won the 1,600 run and was on the 3,200 relay team; Ronde Barber, who won the 110 hurdles and was on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams; Jeff Willoughby, who won the 100 and 200 dashes and was on the winning 400 relay team; and Dexter Holland, who won the 800 run and was on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams.
Kenny Wade of Franklin County won the long jump and the high jump.
At Patrick Henry, Mike Ferguson won the high jump, long jump, 120-yard hurdles and 330-yard hurdles to lead the Patriots to 83-58 Roanoke Valley District victory over Pulaski County. D.J. Patterson won the 100- and 220-yard dashes for Pulaski County.
\ GIRLS' TRACK: Kim Preston won the 100- and 200-meter dashes and was part of the winning 400 relay team to lead Cave Spring to a 76-54 Roanoke Valley District victory over Franklin County 76-54. Crystal Muse won the 400 run and was on the winning 1,600 relay team for Franklin County.
Paced by Felicia Godley's three individual victories, Patrick Henry won every event and raced past visiting Pulaski County 109-23 in an RVD meet. Godley won the high jump, long jump and triple jump. Regina Johnson won the shot put and discus, and Amy Speas the mile and two-mile runs for the Colonels.
