N.C. CENTRAL COACH GOES TO NORFOLK STATE

Michael Bernard, who guided North Carolina Central to the 1989 NCAA Division II national championship, was hired as head basketball coach at Norfolk State on Wednesday.

Bernard spent eight years as an assistant at Norfolk State before going to North Carolina Central, where he had a 115-57 record. - Associated Press
