UNITARIAN TO HEAD CONFERENCE

The Rev. Kirk A. Ballin, minister of Roanoke's Unitarian Universalist congregation since 1987, has been nominated for president of the interfaith Roanoke Valley Ministers Conference for the year starting in June.

He and other officers of the association of religion professionals are to be elected at the final seasonal meeting of the conference.

The May 6 meeting at Camp Bethel will feature Frank Butler, representing the Church of the Savior in Washington. "Growing in Personal Stewardship" will be the theme.

Ballin, 41, came to Roanoke from Pennsylvania. He is the clergy group's program chairman.

Other nominees approved Wednesday by the conference executive board were the Rev. Dr. Steven Teague of Calvary Baptist, the Rev. Collier Harvey of New Hope Presbyterian and the Rev. Herman Word of Ebenezer Baptist as vice presidents.

The Rev. Tom Toler, Baptist lay minister, is to be yearbook compiler.

Margaret Norris, Raleigh Court Presbyterian Christian education director, and the Rev. Douglas Paysour, Highland Park United Methodist, are to be the secretaries.

The Rev. Dr. Owen Stultz, Virlina District Church of the Brethren executive, is to become treasurer.
