FAMILY MAKES 3RD $20 MILLION DONATION

For a third time in a year, a member of the oil-rich Bass family of Texas has donated $20 million to Yale University.

The $60 million the Basses have pledged to their alma mater represents one of the biggest commitments to a university by a single family.

The contribution announced Wednesday from Lee Bass, a 34-year-old graduate of Yale, will be used to endow 11 professorships and support a Western civilization program being developed for undergraduates beginning in 1992.
