SALEM FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE will observe its 10th anniversary of founding Sunday. Organized by lay preacher L.S. Elder, the church has been served for nine years by the Rev. L.E. Humrich, who will speak at the 10:40 a.m. service. A potluck lunch will follow at noon at the church, 3631 Evelyn Drive, Salem. Larry and Marcy Brewer of Canton, Ohio, will present a gospel concert at 2:30 p.m. and also will sing at the morning service.

\ AT BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH in Salem, a new digital organ is in use. Joseph Kennedy of the Virginia Heights Baptist music staff will present a recital on the instrument May 12 at 7 p.m. The church is at 1601 Colorado St.

\ SALEM CAMP MEETING, an annual event for more than 90 years, will take place Aug. 17-25 at the tabernacle at 208 Third St. The Rev. Raymond Powers of Blacksburg, president of the sponsoring board, said veteran director Earl T. Gentry, now living in Louisiana, expects to manage the event this year.

\ A FAMILY SPIRITUAL RETREAT is scheduled May 24-26 at Camp Bethel in Botetourt County. Mary Jessup, a member of the religion faculty at Springfield College in Illinois, will be the leader. Jessup will speak at the opening Friday night program at 8:30 and the following day at 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The Memorial Day weekend retreat, an annual cooperative project of Churches of the Brethren, is open by advance registration to others. \ JOANI TABOR, a Roanoker who formerly performed as a gospel singer in Tennessee, will address the Day Chapter of Women's Aglow Wednesday. The meeting will include breakfast starting at 9:30 and will be at the Boy Scout headquarters on Valley View Boulevard Northwest. Call 562-3112 for more information.
