RECEPTION TO HONOR 33 FOR VOLUNTEER WEEK

Nominees and recipients of the Governor's Award for Volunteering Excellence will be honored at a reception at 2 p.m. Monday at The Park-Oak Grove. Nikki Giovanni will be a speaker at the event, sponsored by the Council of Community Services, the Junior League of Roanoke Valley, the Paul A. Powell family and The Park-Oak Grove. Thirty-three volunteers will be recognized.

The reception is part of the celebration of National Volunteer Week, Sunday through April 27. The observance is sponsored annually by the National VOLUNTEER Center, a non-profit organization that supports volunteering. The national theme, "Volunteers - Hearts at Work," has been adopted for local events.
