PCS RACING SATURDAY AFTER TRACK REPAIRS

Crews from a Roanoke paving company improved the asphalt racing surface between the turns of Pulaski County Speedway's .416-mile oval this week.

Promoter Steve McMurray said he employed the local company after an earlier attempt by an out-of-state concern failed. The racing surface, especially in the turns, was slick during the first race two weeks ago.

More than 25 cars practiced on the new surface Wednesday, and drivers reported the track conditions were much improved.

Eighty drivers are expected to compete in the speedway's five divisions of competition Saturday night during the Granger Select 200.

Gates at the NASCAR-sanctioned track open at 5:30 p.m. Qualifying begins at 5:30 with the first green flag at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. - Staff report
