USS AMERICA ARRIVES HOME FROM GULF WAR

The crew of the aircraft carrier USS America got the now familiar heroes' homecoming Thursday plus a couple of extras - greetings from visiting British sailors and a flyover tribute by the Blue Angels.

"They told us there'd be a pretty big turnout, but I didn't expect this much," America crewman Mike Ruiz of Brooklyn said as he edged through the crowd of about 20,000 people at the Norfolk Naval Base.

The America, which sailed for the Middle East on Dec. 28, docked shortly after noon.
