NORTHERN VA. TO GET MORE FUNDS FOR ROADS

The Virginia Transportation Board has approved a revision in the highway fund distribution formula that will funnel $2.5 million more into Northern Virginia.

State money for primary roads is distributed based on a formula that determines the needs of each region. Under the plan approved Thursday, Northern Virginia will receive a "bonus" of $2.5 million next year because it has some of the state's most critical road needs.
