Ella Massie Layton, age 64, died April 18, 1991, in a Lexington hospital. She was born January 20, 1927, in Nelson County. She was the daughter of Sheffie and Nettie Campbell Massie. She was retired from James Lees and was a member of the Mountain View Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for the past 20 years. Mrs. Layton was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Layton and a sister, Mrs. George (Margaret) Carter. She is survived by her husband, Leslie (Hompy) Layton; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Mary) Gregory, Newport News; Mrs. Harold (Nita) Fitzgerald, Charlottesville; Mrs. Wade (Frances) Strickler, Waynesboro; five brothers, Steve Massie and John Massie, Waynesboro; Julian Massie, Staunton; Roy Massie, Stuarts Draft; Wayne Massie, Fairfield. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Lomax Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Conald Fogus and the Rev. Kenneth Huff officiating. Burial will follow at the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Lomax Funeral Home Sunday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
