WFNR SCHEDULES TWO BENEFITS FOR LIVER TRANSPLANT CANDIDATE

BENEFITS: WFNR will hold a benefit concert April 28 for Leona Elliott, who needs a liver transplant, at Shawsville High School, 2-5 p.m. Bluegrass and gospel music stars will be appearing.

WFNR will also have a live remote and contest to benefit Elliott at The Barber Shop on Pepper Street in Christiansburg on Monday, 1-3 p.m. Make your donation/vote on which disc jockey gets to trim whose hair.

\ GOSPEL CONCERTS: WPUV will be at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Pulaski for a concert by the Pfeifers and the Powers Brothers, 7:30 p.m.

WFNR's "Singsperation" will be held tonight at the Community Christian Academy in Christiansburg, 7 p.m. The Happy Hearts, Victory Gospel Singers and seven other bands will be appearing. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.

\ CHILDREN: WUVT's "Hickory Dickory Dock," Sunday, 9-11 a.m., airs lots of kid stuff and call-ins.

\ COUNTRY: WPSK's "Star Trax" airs Sunday, 10 p.m., and this week's guest is Mark Chestnut. WPSK's "CD Feature of the Week" airs Sunday, 11 p.m.

WRAD airs "Country Crossroads," weekdays at 6:30 p.m.

\ RACING: WRAD and WRIQ have Pulaski County Speedway coverage on Saturday, 7:30 p.m. WJJJ and WVVV air "Fast Lane '91" Saturday, 5-7 p.m., with live race updates and previews from the speedway. WRAD and WRIQ have a speedway call-in show Thursday, 7 p.m.

In NASCAR racing, WJJJ and WNRV carry the North Wilkesboro Speedway First Union 400 on Sunday, 12:45 p.m.

\ BASEBALL: Hear it this week over WVVV, WJJJ and WKEX when Virginia Tech is home against Tulane on Sunday, 2 p.m.

\ LIVE: Today, WPSK will be at the New River Valley Mall for "The Spring Fling" and will be giving away an all-expenses-paid, weekend trip to Nashville. Listen for details or come to the remote, 1-4 p.m.

\ CHRISTIAN ROCK: "Street Light Cafe" airs Sunday, 7:30-9 a.m. on WVVV-Rock 105, with host Don Webber, who will have an ON RADIO KIM SUNDERLAND interview with Bob Hardy, formerly the lead singer for Servant, a ground-breaking Christian rock group.

Hardy is now a solo act and has his first album out, titled "Face the Distance." Hardy will be appearing at a "Youth Alive" festival in Dublin on April 28.

\ COMEDY: WVRU simulcasts "What Ever Happened To . . .," Sunday, 5:30 p.m., which features television, music and film stars as they look back on their lives. This week's guest will be Tony Dow, who played Wally on "Leave It to Beaver."

And catch WVRU's "Hub City Spoke Repair," Wednesday, 9:30 p.m., which takes a satirical look at current affairs.

\ ALTERNATIVE: "Mash Potatoe Radio" has stories, readings & music at 11 a.m. over WUVT's airwaves.

\ ROCK: WVRU's "Long Live Rock," Monday, 9 p.m., continues its Led Zeppelin feature and covers the years 1975 to the present.

On WVVV this week: "Album Feature," Sunday, 11 p.m., features "Led Zeppelin III." "Rock Line" airs Monday, 11:30 p.m., with David Lee Roth. "Five At Five" Friday features Def Leppard.

\ DANCE: WUVT's "House Party" airs 9-midnight Saturday.

WPSK hosts the "Country Dance Party" at the Blacksburg Marriott each Sunday. Dance lessons begin at 7 p.m. and the party starts at 9.

\ INTERNATIONAL: Saturday, WUVT's line up is classical music, 6-9 a.m.; Greek broadcasting, 9-11 a.m.; "The Persian Show," 11 a.m.; "The International Show" at 1 p.m.; Reggae, 3-6 p.m. and "Urban Blight," an eclectic mix of thrash, rap and reggae, plays 6-9. And Sunday, it's reggae, 3-6 p.m.

\ NEWS: WVRU's "Talk of the Town," Wednesday, 8 p.m. and Friday, 1:30 p.m., features a discussion on downtown Radford's Main Street Program. WRAD and WRIQ will also discuss the program on April 26 at 1:50 p.m.

\ GOSPEL: WFNR's "The Gospel Night Train" airs Sunday, 6-10 p.m.

WRAD's "Morning Worship" from the First Baptist Church airs 11 a.m. Sunday and "In Touch" airs at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

WPUV's "Home Town Gospel," today, 9-10 a.m., has a live on center stage segment with the Sweet Adeline Choir.

On Sunday, WKEX airs services from the Blacksburg Baptist Church, 8:30 a.m., the Glade Baptist Church, 9 a.m., and the Blacksburg United Methodist Church airs at 11 a.m.

WBLB carries the Top 40 hits in Southern Gospel music, today, 8-noon. "Gospel Greats" airs today, 4-6 p.m.
