Howard Packett, president, and William Thomasson, executive vice president, said they have bought all of the stock of the agency from Carilion Health System of Roanoke and INOVA. The latter operates Fairfax Hospital.
The agency will continue to handle advertising for Carilion Health System, operator of Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Other Edmonds-Packett clients include Medeco Security Locks, Shenandoah Life Insurance Co., Grand Piano and Furniture Co., Lawyers Title Insurance Corp, Acadia Polymers, Avis-Checker Leasing in several states, Regional Partnership of Roanoke Valley, Richfield Retirement Community and Rick Woodson Honda.
Packett, who had been a minority stockholder in Edmonds-Packett Group, has been associated with the agency since 1963 when it was founded as Brand Edmonds Associates. He has been its president since 1985.
He also is a member of Salem City Council and serves on the boards of United Way, Science Museum, Council of Community Services, Blue Ridge Arts Council and Fifth Planning District.
Thomasson has more than 15 years of marketing and advertising experience, including agency management, corporate marketing management and independent consulting for a wide variety of clients.
A native of Bedford and board member of Roanoke Valley Symphony, Thomasson has been vice president at Finnegan & Agee in Richmond and president of Thomasson & Abrams in Sacramento, Calif.
