The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. in Courtroom B in the county courthouse.
The board is required to make adjustments to the boundaries of the election districts in line with the results of the 1990 census.
Uniform growth across the county during the 1980s made the job of a redistricting committee easier this year than 10 years ago. Most county residents will not be affected, said Joe Powers, the county's planning director.
Two major tasks faced those developing a redistricting plan: to meet a new requirement that district lines follow physical boundaries, such as a river or power line, and to bring each district to within 5 percent of the ideal district, which would have a population of 10,599.
The biggest proposed change would require that 853 people living in Supervisor Joe Stewart's District C be moved into Supervisor Henry Jablonski's District D. Those people live in subdivisions off South Franklin Street, south of Interstate 81 in Christiansburg.
Another major change would move 184 people in the Murphy Subdivision in Supervisor James Moore's district into Supervisor George Gray's District G.
Copies of maps showing five redistricting options and other boundary adjustments are on display in the Blacksburg and Christiansburg municipal buildings and libraries and in the county courthouse.
