AAA TRAVEL COUNSELORS VISITING ROANOKE VALLEY

The Roanoke Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau will be host beginning this weekend to 30 American Automobile Association travel counselors from across the U.S. and Canada. The travel agents are on a familiarization tour of the Roanoke Valley Sunday afternoon and Monday.

They will visit the museums and theater at Center in the Square, the Transportation Museum, Dixie Caverns and Mill Mountain Zoo and overlook, as well as several hotels.

On Tuesday, the bureau will give a training tour of local attractions for front desk employees of area motels and hotels. "Our goal is to increase tourism expenditures in the valley, as well as to encourage a longer length of stay," said Martha Mackey, executive director of the bureau.
