Crotty, a 6-1 senior guard from Spring Lake, N.J., finished his career as the all-time assist leader at UVa, and sixth on the scoring list. He is one of just three players in ACC history to score over 1,500 points (1,646) and record 600 assists (683).
Stith, a 6-5 junior forward from Freeman, Va., led Virginia in scoring (19.8 ppg) and steals (51), and was second on the team in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and blocked shots (19). He is currently fifth on UVa's all-time scoring list (1,832), fifth on the steals list (137) and eighth on the all-time rebounding list (640).
Stith was a first-team All-ACC selection for the second consecutive year and was named the Player of the Year in Virginia by the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Several other awards for the 1990-91 season were presented at the banquet. Senior Matt Blundin received the Michael McCann Leadership Award for the second consecutive year, freshman Cornel Parker was named the team's Rookie of the Year, sophomore center Ted Jeffries was honored as Virginia's Best Defensive Player and sophomore guard Doug Smith was named the team's Most Improved Player.
Senior Kenny Turner was presented the award for the most rebounds on the team, junior guard Anthony Oliver received the award for the best free throw percentage and Crotty was presented the award for the most assists. - Staff report
