HOKIE GOLF FUND-RAISER SCHEDULED FOR TODAY

The Fifth Annual Hokie Spring Swing Golf Classic will be played today at Blacksburg Country Club. The tournament, which features athletic staff members and former standout Tech athletes, is designed as a fund-raiser for the Virginia Tech Golf Team Scholarship Fund.

Returning to play this year is NFL Hall of Famer Carroll Dale, along with Virginia Tech sports Hall of Famers Tim Collins, Leo Burke and Dickie Beard. Also playing are Tech athletic director Dave Braine, football coach Frank Beamer, basketball coach Bill Foster and golf coach Jay Hardwick.

The field of 120 players is full for the fifth straight year. The first four tournaments raised over $30,000 for scholarships. - Staff report
