HOKIES SWEEP NO. 15 TULANE IN METRO PLAY

Third baseman Fred Hatfield drove in five runs as Virginia Tech completed a three-game sweep of 15th-ranked Tulane with an 18-12 victory in Metro Conference baseball Sunday.

Tech scored four runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning, which was the last inning because of time restrictions. Hatfield and Steve Render finished with four hits for the Hokies (22-18 overall, 9-5 in the Metro). Tom Morton had a three-run homer and a two-run homer for Tulane (31-14, 9-6).
