A year ago, 19-year-old twins Keith and Kevin Davis were hunkered in the Saudi Arabian desert, waiting for war.Back home in Pulaski County, meanwhile, parents Bob and Wilma Davis attended support-group meetings for the families of soldiers - and seldom took their eyes from the television set.
"This time last year we came in at night and turned on CNN, watching for any developments," recalled Bob Davis, a telephone line repairman. "I think it changed everybody who was involved. This year we have a whole lot more to be thankful for."
The twins returned for a visit safe and sound last spring and are now stationed at separate U.S. Army bases. Keith is at Ft. Stewart, Ga., Kevin at Ft. Hood, Texas.
The Pulaski County High School graduates returned to Dublin as veterans - not to mention celebrities.
"People were saying, `You guys are heroes.' I don't know if they really knew how to handle that," Bob Davis said.
He said their term of enlistment is up in September 1993. "I think they're both planning to go to school."
