With four seconds remaining, Day's 3-point attempt rattled in and out of the basket. Phillips sealed the victory with a breakaway layup.
"I'm extremely proud of my players," said Radford coach Ron Bradley. "You couldn't ask for a better effort on the road. We just couldn't get a shot to go down when we needed it."
Radford played without starting center Tom Gallaher, who sprained his right ankle. Bradley shook up the lineup by not starting Day and Stephen Barber for the first time this season.
Don Burgess led Radford with 18 points and Barber scored 17. Center Ken Leeks paced Central Florida with 20 points.
