PEACE NOT COMPLETE DURING YULE

Happiness and good will didn't abound everywhere during the holiday season.

Since Christmas Day, Roanoke police have had to deal with 31 shoplifting cases, 29 vehicle break-ins and eight attempted suicides.

Maj. J.L. Viar said he compiled the holiday statistics because "the news media types" were always requesting them.
