Outwardly, Jordan Thacker's life has returned to normal in the six months since he survived a camping tent fire in which two 15-year-old friends were killed.Thacker returned to Franklin County High School in the fall and recovered well enough from burns to his legs and feet to play linebacker on the Eagles' football team.
Thacker, however, lies awake at night, tormented by the image of his two friends, Jason "Jay" Davis and Shawn Shumate Wilkerson, engulfed in flames.
"I feel guilty because I didn't get burned nearly as bad as they did," he said.
His parents have urged him to get counseling, but Thacker said he is too terrified to confront the guilt and pain.
"It just don't end," said Thacker, who turns 16 in February.
