SIGN UP FOR SHARE PROGRAM
SHARE, the Self-Help and Resource Exchange food program, is a non-profit, non-governmental program sponsored by New River Community Action and it can help you save money on food.Participants pay $13, plus state sales tax, and perform two hours of community service to receive from 25 to 35 pounds of wholesome food valued at about $30.
The food package consists of meat, vegetables, fruits and staples. Distribution is once a month and participants pay their money through a host organization.
There are no income guidelines, and participants that pay with food stamps pay $13, but no sales tax.
The signup deadline for this month is Monday, Jan. 13. Call 381-1185 for further information.
