MARTIN, LUCY B.Lucy Barton Martin, age 85, of Salem died Tuesday. She spent all her life as a loving mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Old German Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph M. Martin; two sons, Francis R. and Fred E. Martin; two grandchildren, Cheryl Martin and Randy Martin. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Lowell Bower, Elliston; sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence and Barbara Martin, Columbus, Miss.; Norris and Geraldine Martin, Leon and Jo Martin, all of Salem; Dale and Charlotte Martin, Pikeville, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Clara Martin, Glen Allen, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Wheeler, Roanoke County; Mrs. Alta Burgess, Blacksburg; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, at 12:00 noon at Peters Creek Old German Baptist Church with William Brunk, Robert Peters, and the Rev. Bill Stovall officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mason Cove Church of the Brethren Building Fund. Friends may call at Lotz Salem Chapel after 12:00 noon Thursday.
