RURAL RETREAT WATER PROJECT FINALLY DONE

A water project for the Crossroads area of Rural Retreat has been completed and a sewer project will be finished soon.

Town Manager Ray Matney said about two miles of waterlines are in service with residences tied onto them.

Sewer customers will start hooking on early this year.

Besides water and sewer service, the extension of utilities to the Rural Retreat exit off Interstate 81 is expected to open the area to more industrial development. The utilities also will serve a rest area at Exit 19 at the intersection of U.S. 11 and Virginia 90.
