OAK HILL CAPTURES TOURNAMENT TITLE
Oak Hill Academy scored 14 of the first 16 points in the second half to blow open a close game and win the Above the Rim Hoopwear Classic basketball tournament Wednesday.
The Warriors (20-1) defeated Mater Dei of Santa Ana, Calif., 69-50 for the tournament title.
Oak Hill Academy is USA Today's 9th-ranked boys' team in the country and Mater Dei (15-1) is 21st.
Brian Thompson led the way for the Warriors with 18 points. Martice Moore and Jeff McInnis added 15 points apiece.
Mater Dei got 16 points from William Drakeford, all but one of his points coming on 3-point field goals.
Oak Hill Academy plays No. 1-ranked Baltimore Dunbar on Jan. 10 in a tournament in Pennsylvania. - Staff report
