RIGHT TO WORK COMMITTEE FOUNDER EDWIN DILLARD DIES
Edwin Spotswood Dillard, the founding chairman of the National Right to Work Committee, died Monday after several months of declining health. He was 77.An industrialist, Dillard helped form the Washington-area based group in 1955. It promotes laws allowing workers to choose whether to join a union.
For more than 35 years, Dillard was president and chief executive officer of Old Dominion Box Co., a family-owned industry based in Lynchburg, Va.
Dillard, a native of Lynchburg, moved to Greeneville in 1969.
