Amateur radio group elects 1992 officers

Michael G. Dillon has been elected president of the Southwestern Virginia Wireless Association for 1992.

Dillon is assistant emergency coordinator for Amateur Radio Emergency Services and heads the SKYWARN program in Southwest Virginia.

Other officers are Ralph Andrews, vice president; Wes Myers, secretary/treasurer; Pat Andrews, net manager; Bill Svec, ground wave editor; and Paul Beach Jr., public information officer.

The Southwestern Virginia Wireless Association is open to licensed amateur radio operators and those interested in amateur radio. The club is a public service group that makes its communications resources available during times of emergency.

Girl Scout Cookie sale begins Jan. 17

Girls in the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council will begin their annual cookie sale Jan. 17.

Church sponsors trip to anti-abortion rally

The Respect Life Committee of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church is organizing a bus trip to Washington for the annual Pro-Life Rally on Jan. 22.

The bus will leave the church at 6 a.m. and the cost is $15 per person. Bus fares must be paid by Jan. 10.
