CHILL STOMPS REBELS 9-4
Kurt Semandel scored three goals and Kevin Alexander had two goals and one assist as Columbus continued the Roanoke Valley Rebels' troubles on the road with a 9-4 East Coast Hockey League victory Thursday night. After Bob Kennedy's seventh goal of the season put the Rebels into a 1-1 tie 4:52 into the game, Columbus ripped off six consecutive goals for a 7-1 lead after two periods.
The only bright spot for the Rebels was Mark Woolf, who scored his 28th, 29th and 30th goals of the season in the third period.
"They just pounded our defense," coach Roy Sommer said. "It looked like their feet was stuck in cement. We were letting them come right down the crease."
The Chill (12-15-6) outshot the Rebels 18-3 in the first period and 29-10 the first two.
The Rebels (11-15-3) have dropped the first four games on a six-game road stretch, which continues today at Cincinnati and returns to Columbus on Sunday.
