`FOCUS ON THE FAMILY' INCLUDES PROGRAM ON ABUSED CHILDREN

GOSPEL and CHRISTIAN: WKEX broadcasts "Focus on the Family," weekdays 9:05 a.m. and 6:05 p.m. This week's program includes "Hope For Abused Children" on Monday and Tuesday; guest speaker Chuck Colson on Wednesday; "Prayer: A Call to Action" on Thursday; and "Mentoring" on Friday.

WFNR has "Gospel Night Train," Sunday, 6-10 p.m.

On WKEX Sunday it's "The Abundance of Life Program" from Blacksburg Baptist Church at 8:30 a.m., "The Glade Baptist Hour" at 9 a.m. and "The Renfro Valley Sunday Morning Gathering" at 10:30 a.m.

\ NEWS: WVRU's public information program, "Talk of the Town," airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. and Friday at 1:30 p.m.

"Speakers Corner" airs on WVRU Monday at 1 p.m. with anchorman Roger Mudd, who interviews various people currently involved in world events.

\ ROCK: WVRU's "Long Live Rock" airs Monday at 9 p.m. with biographical and musical info on one of today's hottest stars.

On WVVV this week: Monday at 11:30 is "Rock Line"; "Reeling In the Years," Sunday 9-11 a.m., features artists of the '60s and '70s; "The King Biscuit Flower Hour" airs Sunday at 10 p.m.; and "Metal Shop" airs Wednesday at 11 p.m. "Album Feature," Sunday at 11 p.m., has "Mavericks" by Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey.

\ JAZZ: Fred Umberger's "Jumpin' At the Wooveside" airs on WUVT Sunday, 9 a.m.- noon with the sounds and songs of jazz.

WKEX has "Wax Works," 1-2 p.m. weekdays, with big band, jazz, swing and ballad greats.

WVVV's "True Blues" airs Sunday at 8 p.m. with music from the legends and the new faces.

\ CHILDREN: WBLB's "Kid's Corner," Mondays at 4:30 p.m., has children DJs, tunes and talk, plus Bible stories and discussions.

WUVT's "Hickory Dickory Dock" show airs Saturday mornings, 9-11, with call-ins, children's poems, songs and discussions.

\ COMEDY: WVVV's "Comedy Hour" runs today, 10-11 a.m.

WVRU's "Hub City Spoke Repair" airs this week.

\ COUNTRY: WFNR has "Grand Old Country" today, 8-10 p.m., with golden country oldies.

WPSK's got "Star Trax" Sunday at 10 p.m. and "American Country Countdown," with the Top 40 of the week, airs Sunday at 4 p.m.

WRAD airs "The Ralph Emery Show" weekdays at 10:30 a.m.

WRIQ has the "Top 30 Country Countdown" with Jim Casey on Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
