SKATEBOARDS BANNED
Town Council has passed an ordinance prohibiting the use of skateboards, roller skates or roller blades on town streets. Council's unanimous vote Thursday followed an accident last weekend when a Dublin youngster on a skateboard was hit by a vehicle and seriously injured.Mayor Benny Keister said the child, moments before he was struck, had been warned about skateboarding in the street by both a local police officer and his parents.
"They scare me, because they really don't have control," the mayor said. He cited safety as the major reason for the new ordinance, which carries a fine of up to $25.
