MEEK, ROY A., JR.

Roy Allen Meek, Jr., age 64, died Thursday, January 2, 1992, at his home. He was reared in Burkes Garden, Va. After graduation from V.P. I. of Blacksburg, he lived in Pulaski County for many years where he was a livestock market operator and farmer. He moved to Glade Spring in March 1990 where he continued his farming operation. He was a member of the Glade Spring Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Hutton Meek; three sons, Allen Meek, Jim Meek, both of Draper; Joe Meek, Christiansburg; two daughters, Susan Morgan, Wytheville; Helen Neely, Fairfax; one brother, Joe Meek, Mobile, Ala.; also two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church with the Rev. DeLacy Allen Andrews, Jr. and the Rev. Hallett Hullinger officiating. Burial will follow in the Draper Valley Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Dean Pratt, John Beahn, Lewis Pratt, Tommy Kelley, David Worrell, Malcolm Boothe. Honorary pallbearers, Elders of the Draper Valley Presbyterian Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Virginia Tech Foundation for Roy Meek Scholarship in c/o of Animal Science Department, Richard Frahm, Litton Reaves Hall, Virginia Tech, Blacksburg or Richard White, 143 Third St., N. W., Pulaski, Va. or to the donor's favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the Williams Funeral Home, Chilhowie. The body will be taken to the church one hour before services.
