FULTON, THELMA W.

Thelma Williams Fulton of Withers Road, Wytheville, Va., died Thursday, January 2, 1991, in the Roanoke Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Norman Wilhoit officiating. Entombment will be in the Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin, Va. She was born in Giles County, Va., the daughter of the late Alfred Homer and Leta Durham Williams. She graduated from Virginia Intermont College and attended the Cincinnati Conservatory and the Julliard School of Music where she studied voice, directing, piano and teaching methods. She taught piano and voice in the Galax and Fries School Systems. She served as vice president and program director for the Virginia Federation of Music Clubs where she planned programs for district and state conventions. She was a devoted musician and was the organist and former music director of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was the pianist for the Wytheville Rotary Club. She also performed for the Chautauqua Festival in the Elizabeth Brown Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband, Raymond K. Fulton; one sister, Mrs. Conway (Mary) Smith of Pulaski, Va.; one nephew, Ernest Warren Stone of Elk Creek, Va.; five nieces, Sarah Decker of Norfolk, Va.; Mary Martha Haislip of Roanoke, Va.; Rebecca Stone of Martinsville, Va.; Catherine Sutherland of McLean, Va.; Rosemary Wick of St. Louis. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
