REBELS CONTINUE ON THE ROAD TO DISASTER
An already long road trip got a lot longer for the reeling Roanoke Valley Rebels on Friday night.In what constituted a new low point in their 1991-92 East Coast Hockey League season, the Rebels were annihilated 13-2 by the Cincinnati Cyclones in front of a crowd of 9,444 at Cincinnati Gardens.
The lopsided defeat was Roanoke Valley's fifth in as many games on what has been a disastrous six-game road trip. The Rebels have been outscored 40-19 on the trip, yielding 29 goals in the past three losses.
Kevin Scott and Steve Cadieux each had a hat trick, and Craig Charron and Martin St. Amour scored two goals each as Cincinnati (15-10-4) established a franchise record for goals in a game.
Cincinnati led 5-1 after one period and 10-2 after two.

\ ICE CHIPS: The Rebels (11-16-3) find Raleigh (10-21-2) nipping at their heels in the seven-team ECHL East. Raleigh trails by three points in the battle for the final playoff spot in the East. . . . The five-game losing streak is the Rebels' longest of the season. They lost four in a row from Nov. 9-17. . . . The Rebels are 3-10-2 on the road, where they haven't won since Dec. 6 at Raleigh. . . . The Rebels have today off before concluding their three-game Ohio road swing Sunday in Columbus. \
