CUT GOVERNMENT WASTE, CUT TAXES
IN REPLY to your lead editorial Dec. 22: Fix the economy! Why? Because it needs fixing. Ouick fix? Long term? Why argue? Just do it.Political science (truth) and economic science cannot be separated. They must be considered as always linked. We can also think of war as an extension of politics. (Look at Middle Europe.)
All these issues are part of the same problems. We need high employment and creative economic success for all our citizens. Peter Grace of W.R. Grace Co. said 90 percent of all taxes are paid by the middle class. The rich class can invest in civilian production! Can we lower taxes for the middle class?
Can taxes be lowered now? Yes, if government wasteful spending can be reversed. It won't be easy. CHARLES THORNTON ROANOKE
