TECH WOMEN FALL TO VCU
Virginia Commonwealth point guard Stacy Agee had a Metro Conference record 11 steals, all in the second half, to help rally the Rams past Virginia Tech 74-66 Saturday night in women's basketball.Agee also added 11 points for VCU (6-3 overall, 1-0 in the Metro), which trailed 34-30 at halftime.
Russian native Anna Pavlikhina led the Rams with 20 points, Beth Mollerup added 14 and Jennifer Melton had 12.
Dayna Sonovick led Tech (4-5, 0-1) with 17 points, and Lisa Griffith and Christi Osbourne had 12 each.
The Rams are coached by Susan Walvius, who starred at Tech from 1983-86. Walvius is third on the Hokies' all-time scoring list and first in blocked shots, both for a season and career.
Tech coach Carol Alfano will try again for her 200th career victory Monday night at William and Mary. \
