On-snow bike race set

What is being called the first on-snow mountain bike race in West Virginia will be featured in the Monday through Sunday Winter Carnival at WinterPlace SkiResort. The race is scheduled for Saturday.

Angling experts to hold seminar

The Salt Water Sportsman National Seminar series, which lured nearly 1,000 fishermen to Virginia Beach two years ago, begins its 1992 national tour Saturday in Richmond.

Sponsored by Salt Water Sportsman Magazine, editors Mark Sosin, George Poveromo and Barry Gibson will team with local boat captains and guides to cover angling hot spots and fish-catching techniques.

Tickets for the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. presentation at the Richmond Centre cost $35. They may be ordered with Visa or MasterCard by dialing 1-800-448-7360, or they may be purchased at the door.

The price includes a year's subscription to Salt Water Sportsman and an 88-page textbook titled Salt Water Sportsfishing Techniques. \

Scholarships for skiers

Chrysler-Plymouth is offering training scholarships to help young skiers, ages 14-18, prepare for Olympic competition. Twenty-five $1,000 scholarships will be announced in February. Interested skiers may contact the scholarship foundation at (303) 449-0611.
