DECKER, MYRON C.

Myron Cecil Decker, age 92 of Roanoke, died Saturday morning in a Roanoke hospital. He was retired secretary to the president of the Norfolk and Western Railway (R.H. Racehorse Smith) and was a founding member of Blue Hills Golf and Country Club and was an avid golfer in the Roanoke Valley. He was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church, the Knights Pythias and D.O.K.K. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Hawkins Decker of Roanoke; son, Mr. Myron C. Decker, Jr., Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Miss Virginia Decker, Roanoke; Mrs. Betty Joe Martin, Mercer Island, Wash.; sister, Mrs. Elsie Koontz, Harrisonburg; six grandchildren, Cdr. Richard L. Martin, Jr., U.S. Navy; Dr. Thomas W. Martin, Mrs. Karen L. Colen, Mr. David L. Martin, Mr. Brian T. Decker, Mr. Craig B. Decker and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 3:00 p.m. Monday by the Rev. James A. Hain. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the South Roanoke United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
