WHITTAKER, ROBERT L.

DUBLIN - Robert Lee Whittaker, age 88, died Sunday in a Radford hospital. He was born in Giles County, Va. on June 11, 1903, the son of the late James Thomas and Maccie Riggs Whittaker. He is survived by three sons, Roby Whittaker and Arnold (Jack) Whittaker, both of Dublin; Charles Rodney Whittaker, Parrott; six daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Gilmer, Mrs. Pedie Phillips, and Mrs. Patricia Smith, all of Dublin; Mrs. Lula Collins, Radford; Mrs. Elizabeth Quesenberry, Pulaski; Mrs. Carrie Perkins, Pearisburg; 31 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Parrott Church of God with the Rev. William Myers and the Rev. John Hash officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Dublin. The body will be placed in the church Monday where friends may call from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The arrangements are by A. Vest and Sons Funeral Home.
