Salem took control after the first five minutes, then had to scramble to hold off Graham 66-65 in non-district boys' basketball on Monday.The Spartans (3-0) held off the G-Men (0-7) in the final minutes as Mark Byington, who finished with 15 points, hit two free throws with 30 seconds remaining.
Josh Pugh led Salem with 19 points, Tra Wilson had 17 and Nathan Routt added 13.
\ North Cross 63, Roanoke Valley Christian 59: After trailing most of the way, the Raiders outscored the Eagles 22-11 in the final quarter for the Virginia Independent Conference victory.
Marcus Cardwell had 17 points and Stewart Baucom 16 for North Cross.
Aaron Hassell led RVC (4-7, 3-4) with 21 points.

Roanoke Catholic 66, Holy Cross 18: Shannon Simpson scored 20 points and the Celtics (6-1, 3-1) ran away from the Gaels in the Blue Ridge Conference game.
Roanoke Catholic, getting numerous points off its fast break, led 36-9 at halftime and held Holy Cross to two points in each of the second and third quarters. Christy Monsour and Liz Landry had 12 points each for Roanoke Catholic. Monsour had three 3-point goals.
\ Cave Spring 59, Patrick Henry 32: Lisa Hodges scored 15 points, sparking the Knights to the Roanoke Valley District win over the Patriots.
Cave Spring (8-0, 3-0) broke to a 19-11 first-quarter lead and was never threatened.
Elisha Jones paced PH (5-3, 2-2) with 13 points.
\ Pulaski County 52, William Fleming 30: Cindy Martin had 15 points and Terri Garland 14 as the Cougars downed the visiting Colonels in a Roanoke Valley District game.
Pulaski County (8-1, 3-0) broke open a close game by outscoring William Fleming (6-3 overall) by 10 points in the third quarter.
Marquetta Randolph paced Fleming with 14 points.
