UZI, 5 PISTOLS STOLEN; 1 SUSPECT CHARGED

A Uzi and five pistols valued at nearly $2,500 were stolen in separate incidents at the gun show in the Roanoke Civic Center over the weekend.

Authorities recovered the $1,000 semiautomatic Uzi after an off-duty Petersburg police officer caught one of the suspects.

Roanoke police said Darrell L. Hairston, 20, of Liberty Road was charged with concealing a stolen gun.

Another suspect escaped by jumping over a wall. The stolen pistols included three revolvers and two semi-automatic pistols.
