2 CHILDREN INJURED IN CAR-BUS ACCIDENT
Two children were injured slightly in a traffic accident involving a Montgomery County school bus and a station wagon, Blacksburg police said.The accident happened Monday morning at the the intersection of Giles Road and Neil Street. The bus was driven by Eric Burlingame, 25, of Christiansburg, and the car was driven by Cynthia Chappelka, 56, of Blacksburg.
Two pupils on the bus, Emily Williams, 9, and Linda M. Jones, 10, both of Blacksburg, were slightly injured, police said. Both were taken to Montgomery Regional Hospital, where they were treated and released.
Chappelka was charged with driving with obscured vision because of frost on her car's window, police said. Police estimated damage to the school bus at $600 in damage and Chappelka's car, about $1,000.
