VAN HALEN TO ROCK ROANOKE ON FEB. 26
In the late 1970s and early '80s, Van Halen built its reputation on sizzling guitars and a tongue-in-cheek bad-boy image. In the process, the group's hard-edged sound set a standard for younger heavy metal and rock acts to build upon. The group has been been together 17 years, but don't dare call them rock 'n' roll old-timers. Last summer, they released their latest album, the guitar-laden "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge." And now Van Halen's hitting the road.
The band plays the Roanoke Civic Center on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m., with special guest Baby Animals. Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at the civic center box office (981-1201) and TicketMaster outlets. To charge tickets by phone, call (800) 543-3041. Box office hours are 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday. - TRACIE FELLERS
