HABITAT IN NEED OF COMMITTEE MEMBERS

New River Valley Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit Christian organization dedicated to working with low-income families to help them build safe and adequate housing, is seeking members for its Committee of 1000.

The committee is comprised of people who make monthly donations to Habitat for Humanity to help the group reach its goal of building four new homes each year that can be sold inexpensively to local families.

The committee currently has 54 members. The goal is to have 1,000 regular contributors.

Habitat for Humanity uses donated materials and volunteer time to build homes as cheaply as possible and then sells them to eligible low-income families, who are also required to spend 500 hours of sweat equity in building their own home or another Habitat home.

More than 10,000 homes have been built world-wide by Habitat for Humanity.

For more information on becoming part of the Committee of 1000, call Fred Dodson Jr. at 382-6186.
