COMPTON IS CHAIRMAN OF GILES SUPERVISORS

vice chairman of the Giles County Board of Supervisors at the board's first meeting of the year Tuesday.

Appointments for the Board of Zoning Appeals are Ray Neely, Tommy Miller, Paul D. Wagner, Leon Law and James E. Stafford.

Each appointee's term is of different duration, ranging from one to five years. The terms were chosen at random.

Supervisors George Hedrick and Samuel Timberlake were appointed to the Social Services Board.

Larry Williams was appointed to the Giles County Planning Commission, and Compton will serve on the Emergency Services Board.

Supervisors agreed to accept a lease agreement with New River Community Action for the former King Johnston Elementary School.

They also agreed to pay the Social Services Department $68,600.
