FIELDALE-COLLINSVILLE WINS THRILLER
It took three overtimes and a last-second shot by Tonche Dotson, but Fieldale-Collinsville came out a winner Wednesday night, defeating William Byrd 69-68 in a non-district boys' basketball game.Junior guard Thad Wade twice saved Fieldale-Collinsville (5-3), standing alone at the free-throw line with no time left in regulation for two free throws that tied the score 55-55, then banking in a short jumper for a 64-64 tie at the end of the second overtime.
In the third overtime, Byrd's David Robertson sank two free throws for a 68-67 lead with less than a minute remaining. Fieldale-Collinsville then ran about 20 seconds off the clock before Dotson hit the winner, a jumper from the free-throw line with one second left. Byrd was unable to get off a final shot.
Wade led the Cavaliers with 14 points and five assists. Kerwin Hairston and Scott Chitwood added 13 points each, and Mario Walker had 10. \

ROCKY MOUNT - Marcus Toney scored 21 points and the Warriors (7-1) gradually pulled away after the first quarter to defeat the Eagles (1-7).
Franklin County trailed 18-17 after one quarter and was down 37-28 at the half. Magna Vista outscored the Eagles 45-28 in the second half.
Tony Holmes added 14 points, Brian Taylor 13 and Rodney Redd 11 for the Warriors. Franklin County, which shot 32 percent (22-of-65) from the field, was led by Alessandra Lima with 13 points and Chris Mattox with 10. \
