EX-CAVE SPRING STAR GOING TO LYNCHBURG

Former Cave Spring basketball star Anthony Cummings has enrolled at Lynchburg College and will be eligible to play after the first semester of next school year.

Cummings, a 6-foot-7 and 310 pounder, will rejoin his former Cave Spring coach Joe Davis, who took over the program at Lynchburg this season. Cummings comes to Lynchburg after graduating from Louisburg (N.C.) Junior College, where he averaged 18 points and nine rebounds last year.

After graduating from Louisburg, Cummings originally signed a letter of intent with Virginia Commonwealth University. But after attending several weeks of classes at VCU, his scholarship was taken because although he had graduated with an overall 2.0 grade point average he didn't have 48 credit hours of C work.

He cannot play at Lynchburg until next season because the NCAA does not allow Division I scholarship athletes ineligible at their last school to transfer to Division III schools and immediately become eligible. - Staff Report
