HENRY COUNTY CRASH KILLS 2

Two men were killed early Thursday when their vehicle crashed on southbound U.S. 220 in Henry County near Oak Level.

Scott William Bates, 21, of Martinsville and Michael Lynn Stanley, 19, of Collinsville died when the car Bates was driving entered a curve, ran off the left side of the road and struck an embankment. The vehicle flipped several times and came to rest on its wheels, state police said.

Neither victim was wearing a seat belt, and police said it appeared the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Both victims died at the scene.
