Gary Jacobsen, an outspoken advocate of abortion rights and tough gun control laws, has announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Northern Virginia's newly created 11th District. He is a Democrat.

No player matched all six numbers to collect a $1 million Lotto jackpot in the Virginia Lottery, a spokeswoman said Thursday. The pot should increase to $2.5 million for the next scheduled drawing on Saturday.
