HICKMAN, JAMES T.

James T. Hickman, age 67 of 171 East Ave., State Line, Pa., died Thursday, January 9, 1992, at 8:50 p.m. in the Waynesboro Hospital. Born December 30, 1924, in Lexington, Va., he was the son of the late Henry Ivan and Louise Whitmore Bryant Hickman. He was a Presbyterian. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Hickman retired in 1987, after forty-one years employment with Conrail, Shomo Yard, Hagerstown, Md. He was a yardmaster. He was a life member of the Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion, Greencastle; member of the Yardmasters of America, the National AARP, and the United Transportation Union. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Vera Livengood Abel Hickman; three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Lester, Strasburg, Va.; Mrs. Roberta Rogers, Martinsburg, W. Va.; Mrs. Sheila Burkett, State Line, Pa.; three sons, James T. Hickman, Jr., Falls River, Mass.; Timothy M. Hickman, State Line, Pa.; Mathew J. Hickman, State Line, Pa.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry I. Hickman, Jr. He was the last of his immediate family. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. in the Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, with the Rev. Dorsey Glover officiating. Burial will be int he Beautiful View Cemetery, State Line, Md. Relatives will receive friends Sunday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
