The Senate Finance and House Appropriations committees conducted a public hearing in Falls Church, the second of three such hearings being held outside ofRichmond.House Minority Leader Vance Wilkins of Amherst County said in a floor speech that the Democratic leadership should give the GOP more committee seats if the majority party really wants bipartisan cooperation. Majority Leader Richard Cranwell of Vinton responded with a speech alleging the GOP has misled voters onsome issues and urging Republicans to act responsibly.
Senate Majority Leader Hunter Andrews of Hampton encouraged senators to submit their bill requests to Legislative Services as early as possible. The deadline is 5 p.m. Wednesday.
